Description: In the near future, the U.S. has become overpopulated due to higher birth rates in upper-class communities. Therefore the lower class has become the minority and an object of discussion. The government comes up with a plan called Downsizing in which a citizen takes part in a permanent procedure in which the individual is permanently shrunk and their family receives compensation for undergoing the procedure. Naturally, a group of lower-class people is chosen to take part in the first trial, but they're unaware that once they're shrunk the government has no intention of keeping them around.
